Medieval Studies at St Andrews is an interdisciplinary subject which equips students with the knowledge of different theoretical approaches and current debates in the fields of history, art history, languages and literature. This subject offers essential skills training in palaeography and Latin (or other medieval languages as required). Students may also work with colleagues in Philosophy and Divinity as available and appropriate.
Students come from diverse backgrounds and with very different goals in mind. Some are preparing for doctoral work, others are keen to pursue a particular area of research as a complement to their undergraduate degree. Small group teaching and individual supervision are tailored to secure the best from each student.
